Liquid Liquid – Cavern (1983)

It could be argued that this is the record that caused the 99 Records label to implode due to Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mell’s supposed unlawful use of the bassline (amongst other things) for their track ‘White Lines’, which as everybody knows is also absolute flames.

Unfortunately 99 Records won the lawsuit but Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mell’s label, (Sylvia Robinson’s Sugar Hill Records), filed for bankruptcy so therefore couldn’t pay them and by this point 99 Records, who had sold shit loads of records btw, had no money left themselves.

There you go then, let that be a lesson to anyone who wants to start suing people, it can cost mega bucks and end up also making you bankrupt. Ouch!

Oh yeah, and this track was the only one that ever earnt a music video commision from the 99 Records label, hence the title of this post.
