Shouts to Nicolas Heller for coming through for the Top 5 series. Nicolas is someone whose videos I have been a big fan for a while with his production unit “Ricky Shabazz and the boom bap boys”. He has such good ideas and likes to showcase the magic of film which I personally love. This is by using props and costumes but more importantly engaging the viewer before the pay off. Geek talk I know, but watch out for his “top 5 videos of 2011” over this week.

Why? Where? What? (King Fantastic) Dir: Charles Little II and Randall Kirk II

I like videos that don’t depend on using the performers. Rappers are extremely hard to deal with, so when I can, I try to use them as little as possible or not at all. These guys did a great job at avoiding rap egos. Everyone loves hot naked chicks too

Yonkers (Tyler, The Creator) Dir: Wolf Haley

This is no surprise. Everyone and their mother loves this music video. I feel like this was one of the first music videos to prove that it doesn’t matter how flashy a video is, it all depends on performance and content

Simple Math (Manchester Orchestra) Dir: DANIELS

I went to shool with these directors. It is really awesome to see them killing it in the scene. Watch their other videos. They have a very distinct style.

The Man (Top $ Raz) Dir: Mark Carranceja

Carranceja is the best cinematographer in the hip hop game right now. I am honored to be working with him soon..

Hard Luck (Juan Deuce) Dir: Nicolas Heller

Gotta rep myself. This is my favorite video I have done this year. Was a blast to shoot.

MASSIVE THANKS TO RICKY SHABAZZ AND THE BOOM BAP BOYS ; NICOLAS HELLER FOR SENDING THROUGH HIS TOP 5! BIG LOVE FROM THE UK TO THE US.
