Firstly – Madd Raff Wednesdays kicks off TONIGHT, with a FREE launch party. Get down to the first in the weekly bashment adventure at The Social in central London.

Secondly the man himself got interviewed by Terry Wogan and here is how it went…

Terry Wogan: Hi Raff.

Madd Raff
: What’s up Terry.

Terry Wogan: So tell me a bit about your self Raff.

Madd Raff
: Terry I’m gonna be real right now okay, because its you. I was born to dance. My whole life is a big dance cos dancing makes people happy and smile and laugh and catch joke with their mates and that’s what I’m about. That’s what I love. If people talk about working or going to uni or anything else I just say na im alright thanks because it’s a dancing ting all day everyday. I love skanking but not dubstep skanking, proper dancing.

Terry Wogan: Proper dancing. Can you expand on that?

Madd Raff: Because theres dancing for joy and theres dancing for an audience and I believe in dancing for myself and for my friends. It’s a catch joke and wine thing not a pose up and profile thing. And also it’s a synchronised thing, all the body parts involved not just the back or the legs you have to get shoulders and elbows and calf muscles involved. Every single body part comes together like transformers.

Terry Wogan: Is there a specific genre of music you dance to Raff?

Madd Raff: Na it’s not a genre thing Terry, genres are for MTV and HMV I just deal with my music. Like let me describe it. First you need a bassline that’s just bubbling and it’s got a vibe so when you hear it you start tapping feet, like you know hip hop or R’n’B, that type of music you can’t stand still to you have to just start shuffling and moving and therefore you know it it’s a skanking thing. Good MCs and some nice singing and lyrics you know good bubbly music. Celebration and party music. Also dancehall. I like dancehall and bashment. I like Kartel and Sean Paul and Mr Vegas and all them man.

Terry Wogan: I see. And how do you feel about the new weekly dancehall night named after you?

Madd Raff: It’s a good thing don. It’s been a long time coming. I’ve been waiting for years, screaming out where’s my weekly night? Cos most times I just go raving in my kitchen and listen to a little Heatwave on Rinse and that’s me. But this weekly night it’s a good thing. And wednesdays that’s nice I like that. Because you know it’s normal for me to dance on a Wednesday. I dance every Wednesday anyway. I don’t deal with weekends just Wednesdays.
