Afrobeats meets trap – Cameroonian Julz offers something outside the normal Ghanaian/Nigerian aesthetic. He’s a newcomer, and rumour has it he’s got some heavy tracks in the pipeline.
Vibe Squad – Drop
Sometimes the attempts to meld synth-y Western dance with afrobeats percussion end up in a cheesy EDM mess, but Vibe Squad show how to nail it, chucking Dutch rave sounds over proper syncopated rhythms. Every time I play this out it goes OFF.
