My boy Jackson is a top guy and an all-round brilliant documentary film maker if not now then bloody fucking soon. He doesn’t like when I get him in trouble and also when I tweet some random shit that isnt directly aimed at anyone :-P. Most of all though I believe he has great attention to detail and I admire his desire to invest time in people but i guess its a very patient craft. His new documentary comes out soon. Till then here are his TOP 5 videos. Check out his blog HERE

Video # 1 = Gaea Girls

Kim Longinotto is definitely up there with the greats of observational documentary (Wiseman, Maysels Brothers et al) and has been a massive influence on me. This film in particular is jaw droppingly savage and tender in equal measure. Just wait for the drop kick. POW!

Video # 2 = Errol Morris interviews “Mob” lawyer Murray Richman

This clip is part of an excellent series called ‘First Person’. Originally commissioned by BRAVO it features interviews with a wide and unusual variety of people. Morris cross examines each individual in his own peculiarly lucid interview technique, the results are endlessly fascinating. This episode focuses on controversial lawyer who discusses the problematic nature of truth.

**** SO YESTERDAY I BOUGHT FIGHT NIGHT CHAMPION AND I HAVE BEEN GLUED TO A COMPUTER SCREEN LITERALLY FOR THE LAST 24 HOURS AND FORGOT TO PUT UP JD’s VIDEO 3 SO HER IT IS IN ALL IT’S GLORY – MY BAD, IF IT’S ANY CONCELATION I’VE KNOCKED EVERYONE OUT IN THE SECOND ROUND – I”M SO TIRED HELP!!”

Video # 3 – Hello Hugh – The full run of Hugh sketches from The Armando Iannucci Shows

Let’s face it we ALL need a little laughter in our lives and for me Armando Iannucci is probably the greatest and most productive comic mind of his generation. Having written and directed The Day Today, I’m Alan Partridge, Time Trumpet, The Armando Iannucci Shows, The Thick of it… blah blah blah – basically he is a genius. This video is a highlight real of his fictional interviews with ‘Hugh’ a character from The Armando Iannucci Shows. HILARIOUS.

Video # 4 – Downtown 81 – Edo Bertoglio, Glenn o’ Brien, Jean Michel Basquiat

Jean Michel Basquiat hangs about in New York for just over an hour. Effortlessly cool. Narrated by Saul Williams. Fucking amazing.

Video # 5 – Lift – Marc Isaacs

As an official member of the North London Jewish documentary filmmaker gang I have a duty to include this video – a massive inspiration to any body who wants to make a film on a shoe string budget and proof that worthwhile stories surround us at all times. Sit back and enjoy The Lift!

Huge brotherly love to Jackson for coming through with his Top 5, It was nice to see a little bit documentary footage. Quite a few bits and pieces that I havent seen. All in all when you ask and people deliver then thats LOVE. Safe for coming through bro.

More Top 5, Soon come.
