I’ll be honest. I’m not an A* student when it comes to being at the absolute forefront of brand spanking new music. I’d say I get a B+ consistently, but sometimes I need a helping hand. So I hadn’t heard of Famous Eno before. But lo and behold, in steps the new installment of Sub Skank’s Rhythm Composer series! What a nice introduction to a London based producer and DJ who I’m pretty sure I’ll be keeping tabs on from here in. With a well rounded background in an extremely wide range of music (jungle through to ‘weird’ pop music) and an upcoming release on New York’s super-amazing label MIXPAK, it’ll be hard not to know about this guy!

Plus I’ve got massive respect for somebody with a 12″ of Debbie Deb’s ‘Lookout Weekend’ in their collection. That’s my jam!

Big up to Sub Skank for putting their feelers out and introducing us to such a wide scope of DJs and producers with this series so far. Sourcing out new music has changed so much with the Internet; there’s a plethora of people just whacking up fumbled interviews done over email onto blogs but seriously now, attention spans have waned. Interviews in the style of Rhythm Composer are the way forward; taking a peep into the producers habitat, hear them speaking freely, seeing their records and a half empty (or full) cup of tea! Much more captivating.

A lot of thinking and effort has gone into this and it pays off. Looking forward to the next one guys!

Plus Sub Skank are throwing their next party on the 13th March in Stoke Newington featuring Visionist, Tanka, South London Ordnance, Elefo & Pyramid Scheme. Check the event page HERE.
